  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

S35 People

I've just purchased myself a Panasonic GH1 plus Nikon lens adapter plus a Red Rock Micro Captain Stubling rig for shooting some projects coming up in July. Unless the GH1 seriously underwhelms me, I expect I'll be using the GH1 at least until Feb/March 2010 by which time the Scarlet S35 will hopefully be shipping and we'll have a better idea of what the other manufacturers are planning. Plus I see my GH1 as a bit of an experiment to see how well I get along with a small form factor, large sensor camera using fast prime lenses. I'm definitely looking forward to it but it will change the way I shoot.

I'm just curious, if you take price out of the picture, what do you get with the Scarlet S35 that you do not already get with the RED ONE?

Or is it really just the price drop for the same technology that is driving this interest in S35 vs. the R1?

:confused5:

5K instead of 4K
More Dynamic Range
More Modular
More Rad

The S35 Scarlet (according to current specs) seems to me like the best compromise of features and price. More resolution and dynamic range than a R1, in a lighter and less expensive package. What's not to like?

ehehehehehe you can bet

I'm saving my pennies for the S35 too. I just like the form factor of something I can hand hold like a MF stills camera. The R1 is too hefty for these achin' bones. I think I'll go for the Nikon mount to start with...

looking to purchase the s35+nikon mount
i'm a art director for a clothing company, i plan on using the scarlet for still photography(frame grabs for photo shoots) as well as video. i really enjoy experimenting and finding new ways to approach things, with a camera like the s35 having so much capability in so many arenas i'm sure it will spark some interesting results. been loving my hvx200 with redrock and nikon lenses but the scarlet will allow for so much more . . .
