Music Video Shot on iPhone 3GS

[Steve Ellington]

I thought this might be something the RED User community might enjoy. Immeadiately after purchasing my new iPhone last week, I went out on the streets with a small wind-up robot to field test the video capabilities. I was pleasantly surprised by the result.

It is a very cool thing to always have a viable video camera with me.

Cheers

I've never before felt empathy for a robot. It's pretty amazing to see the level of work that can be done with cel phone cameras.

[D Fuller]

Of course it is, Martin. I don't think you saw the tongue firmly planted in my cheek. lol!

[Steve Ellington]

Of course this is hobby filmmaking. I shot it in two hours with a cell phone camera and a crew of 1.

[D Fuller]

And all that said, it was fun. I liked it!

[Steve Ellington]

Thanks. I'm happy i could bring you some enjoyment.

[Obin Olson]

can you focus that phone cam?

[Andrew Gentle]

Nice depth of field, considering!

[Steve Ellington]

can you focus that phone cam?

Yes you can! You tap on the screen where you want it to focus. It also exposes and evaluates white balance on that point. At macro distances you can get some decently shallow depth of field.

[Craig W. Bickerstaff]

can you focus that phone cam?

Sort of, you can tap focus.

[Grinner Hester]

freakin awesome

I thought that was really good! I rarely watch clips to the end but I found myself really interested in what that little robot was experiencing. Well done!

Yeah, that was awesome! lol.

good job. This is just another example of creativity over technology. You can tell a story no matter what tools you use.

Very nice little brother of RED1+EasyRig3 duo!!!!!!!!

[Ketch Rossi]

Totally cool, and as far as I always say to anyone in this industry, no matter how you shoot it or what you shoot it with, what it really matters is that YOU SHOOT IT!!
