I checked out Kwan's unit. Brought to set one day. Very nice and well made. Precise as hell. Lack of straight forward markings was a bit odd compared to a Btech or Preston. Didn't test it for sound or range. They are a bit like the RED of FF. Good performance for cheap. My only big reservation is back up. I know when I rent a preston or bartech, the rental house has a few more in stock in case mine goes down (and they will go down one day). Or if my RED goes down, there are a thousand floating around NYC, not hard to get a body at the corner deli.

So there in lies the paradox. When they're shipping all over and you're insured of a back up, the rental price will be low. When they're not shipping and back up is dicey, it's hard for pro users to rent something without a guaranteed back up. Anyone who does is playing roulette.

Personally I think 5% is a good starter price that won't induce "gougers" remorse down the road, once your clients become edumacated on the rental market. There are a few RED owners out there who may have suffered this syndrome already.
