Director Emre Sahin's newest film, 40, starring Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Deniz Cakir and Ali Atay is scheduled to be released fall of 2009.

For those who are curious about the director:

Even though I am not related to the production in any way, it will be interesting to see a native film which is shot on red1 in my country.

Here's the extended trailer for the film:

Thanks for kind words Bassam if you may let me call you by your first name.

Especially last 10 years many Turkish films earned remarkable success in foreign countries, in mostly festivals, not box-office. A lot of Turkish director and producer supports digital evolution of cinema here and there are a bunch of red1 in Turkey. Cannes-best-director-winner Nuri Bilge Ceylan also supports digital cinema. His last film Three Monkeys was shot on digital cameras. I, humble wanna-be, only dream and talk about filmmaking right now but it is just a time matter, you know.

If you like Yılmaz Güney, you probably have watched "Susuz Yaz" (Dry Summer) by Metin Erksan. They both are great directors who earned much repututaion for their cinema and political stand. That is why I want to remind that restored version of Dry Summer was online at www dot theauteurs dot com. Anybody can see full lenght film on the internet right now. Please give it a try, you won't be regretted.

P. S Excuse my English.

mcivcik,

I am not involved in the production in any way, the director is new to me too. I came across this on the internet, I wanted to share. Nice to see you on this forum.

Merhaba! I am the Director of Photography for "40". I am not Turkish, but I am the greatest Besiktas fan in the United States, so that should count for something. Siyah! Beyaz! I fell in love with the team the day I saw Sergen Yalcin play back in 2004.
Anyway, we mainly used the 35MM ANGENIEUX 15-40 Optimo 2.6, 35mm Zeiss Prime MKII 50mm 2.1, 35mm Zeiss Prime MKII 100mm 2.1. We also rented some lenses from Turkey for our 2nd unit, but I do not recall which exact lenses. Shooting in Istanbul was awesome, and we hope to make many films in Turkey for the Turkish audience. I hope you like the movie!
