I'm trying to connect DVI output from MacPro to Sony BVM 20F1E CRT video monitor via a DVI to RGB cable, I get no picture just some artifacts.
Is it possible?

There are two flavors of DVI ports: DVI-D which is digital only, and DVI-I which passes both digital and analog RGB signals. The analog RGB is passed on a separate set of pins from the digital signal, which is the same in both cases.

If you Mac Pro supports DVI-I for analog, you will have to go into the graphics settings and select the correct output profile to match your monitor. The monitor only supports HDTV and SDTV signal formats, not computer graphics, depending on the card output it may not work.

Hi David,
At the back of MacPro there are 2 DVI outputs. One is connected to 30'' Cinema display and I connected the other to RGB monitor. How I can find if MacPro supports DVI-I for analog? I suppose this depends on the graphics card?

To my knowledge, all Mac Pro video cards do DVI-I.

That BVM in its default configuration (at least according to the manual I found), supports RGB signals. Its input has be configured to "COMPONENT" in the "FORMAT" menu and set to RGB instead of YUV, which may very well be the problem all along.
