This was shot during my time working and teching in Almaty, Kazakhstan. We filmed it over the course of 3 days on a $0 budget. I did all the camera, they(the songwriters) did all the editing. Nothing but available light. Not much more to it than that. If anything, its a good example of what the RED can do even if that's all you have.

I would guess these were shot with the Mark 1 or B-speed zeiss primes (the name you use depends where you are from apparently). These were the first version of high speed primes from Zeiss and are T1.4 wide open. They have a triangular shaped aperature that shows up when you are stopped down and there are highlights in the frame, which this video definitely shows off. At wide apertures you would have the normal rounder bokeh.

Like all Super speeds they are almost like having two sets of lenses since they look so different wide open (softer, less contrasty and almost looking slightly diffused) and stopped down (sharper and more contrasty). Since they have the unique aperture they offer an even more distinct look when stopped down.

... at least that's my guess.

Really touching images, these you can only get over there... Nice

BTW What lenses did you use, I liked this triangular bokeh.

Jeff

Yeah, the lenses were Zeiss SS MKII or MKIII.

very long but very nice, song and image.
What is the language?
Kazahstan?

The first two verses and the two guys together in the chorus are singing in Kazakh, the rest of the verses are Russian. Agreed it's a little long... what are ya gonna do.

It’s only long if it’s boring. And that video is definitely not boring. You know something is good when you don’t understand a word and still compelled to watch it. Very Nice!!

Nice Vid! Did you shoot 3K 48fps?

yeah, I shot a lot of different frame rates and resolutions. I can't think of a better camera I could have had for this extreme run-and-gun project. When I would see a moment or a person I wanted to capture quickly, I could go from 4K 24fps to 2K 120fps in about 5-8 seconds and get the shot every time.

Word, I forgot that was the first set I brought over there. And thanks man! I forgot you hadn't seen that. :) Here's some pics.

Tanner, what kind of handheld rig did you use?

No rig really. If it was on my shoulder i just used some red handles and threw it up there. Or held it low using the top handle and the lcd for framing. Other than that it was on a 1030 head or steadicam using the actioncam.

nice, thanx!
