RedUsers,
Many of you have been inquiring as to what I have been doing in recent weeks. I apologize for being unresponsive; I was still in the process of finalizing matters with my former employer. With all of that behind me, I am excited to announce the formation of my new venture, LIGHTIRON Digital LLC.

Similar to the revelations RED has brought to production, LIGHTIRON will bring an entirely new breed of post to the community. Gone is the day when post production companies get ahead of the competition by retrofitting antiquated walls with technological innovation. Gone is the day when artists are held captive by heavy iron that they cannot afford or do not fully comprehend. I believe in leveraging technological innovations for the benefit of the end user. I believe that workflow is an iterative, collaborative, and dynamic sequence. And I believe that much of the post and production communities’ resistance to the sign of the times is a futile battle.

There is much more to come from LIGHTIRON in the weeks ahead. Thank you to all who have supported me over the years and who have helped pioneer a better future for us all.

Best,
Michael Cioni

michael:

it is great to see you are back in the game. it is always scary to work so hard on set and then hand off the project to production and hope that they get it right. i have spend time on the phone educating clients and their editorial staffs as to the proper way to finish a red project, just to find out that someone in the pipeline thought they knew a better way and i end up seeing the spot on tv and the colors are all wrong and the images look muddy.

hopefully lightiron will continue the work that you guys started at plaster whereby you spend time with clients and in some cases other post houses helping them get it right in the interest of the format.

i am wondering if that will be how it is at lightiron too, as i want to send you some business once you are up and running.

good luck and let us know.
