You would have to give a lot more info about your workflow to get some help here - and explain better. Do a CC where? In what? Timeline using which codec?

I suggest you read the Apple White Paper that comes with the RED FCP installer on www.red.com/support - it explains the RED workflow as it relates to FCP and Color.

- edit proxies /low rez in final cut
- do Color Correction of the selected shots in RA
- open a new sequence in final cut (high resolution: for example 1920x1080p)
- copy low rez sequence in the new sequence (clips are to small now)
- reconnect media - done

is this what you were looking for?

regards,
martin

if you edit with the proxies, you can open the r3ds in RA, do a correction, DELETE the quicktimes from the r3d's folder, regenerate the quicktimes in RA, and then go back into FCP and the correction should be applied.

Tried this

Tried this

I am in a similar situation.

Used Medium res proxies

Essentially did what the last two posters suggested only I ran into a problem. For some reason the color corrections weren't applied to the regenerated qt's. In fact, it now looks significantly worse than before. It dropped the amount of color in the shot significantly, taking it from a sunny colorful day to a gloomy, gray, overcast day.

This is my first time editing red footage so this process is rather alien to me and has been filled with little snafus like this. Any help would be much appreciated.

Edit: Im able to get the color crrecting to take if I render out a QT file with no compression scheme and replace the proxy I used with it. This is a hugely time consuming process and not one I want to use.

fcp->RA->fcp

fcp->RA->fcp

Hi,
i'm Pantaleone,

I have a problem with this process,
I do this step:

fcp -> RA-> exchange Matrix and Curve -> file-> Make Quicktimes-> fcp
the proxy is changed only the Matrix, not the Curve,

this is the correct procedure?

thanks Pantaleone

Curves are currently not respected in this workflow.

Try Clipfinder (free).

Hi Nomad,

I have not yet understood the workflow with Clipfinder,
I tried but I can not import the file R3D.

My purpose is to import the file R3D,to change the curves and regenerate the proxies without rendering, so Final Cut can process the proxies already modified

Can you help me to figure out how to perform this procedure?

thanks
Pantaleone

Hi Hans,

Is there in Final Cut such a tool? that would affect the curves like red alert, without compromising the quality?

thanks

It's in Color…
