Hi all sorry if this question has been answered else where but i searched in vain
We are doing a project via the Redrushes-Dnx 36 path, but when we come to batch import the dnx QTs into avid, after importing the ALE, we have a problem with the batch import tool not recognising the corresponding Dnx file, we have to manually link each file to the correct QT which is time consuming and can create probs if the operator links to the wrong file.
We think we have found the problem with the clip data created by the imported ALE file it adds a _H to the end of every clip name which we thinks causes Avid not recognise the Dnx file
hope my question makes sense and any advice will be appreciated

In the Batch Import window, you can select everything on the left side (i.e., the master clips from the ALE) by lassoing them, and then you only need to find the first of the QT clips. Avid will match up the rest as long as they are all in the same folder.

yes, sometimes it gets a little funky but worst case scenario you match each clip.

Hi thanks for the reply guys, I have been selecting all in the Batch Import window but it doesn't seem to recognise the Files due to we think the _H added to the ends of the name.
Does anyone know what the H is for and how to avoid creating it when we export the ALE from Red rushes
Cheers john

It means that somehow you either batched the _H proxies in RR instead of the actual R3D's, or the ALE used the proxies instead of the transcodes. Did you output the transcodes to a separate folder when you made them? Hopefully you are actually batch importing the transcodes into Avid and not the proxies? Do your RR transcodes also have the _H extension? If they do then you probably transcoded the proxies in RR and not the R3D's.

You should never get that if you export an ALE from Red Rushes, as RR doesn't load the QT wrappers, it loads the R3d files. Are you sure the ALE wasn't made with Metacheater from a folder full of H proxies? That's about the only way I can think of to get what you got.

I will double check to see if I accidently loaded the proxies instead, I didnt think i have but you never know, the actual transcoded files don't have the _H on the name just the clip name from the ALE
i will double check these things thanks again

ooh ooh I think I know...

before you batch transcoded in RR did you go to the QT Wrappers drop down menu in the Menu bar, I think you're supposed to make sure the QT Wrappers>Options>No Resolution Ext (_F,_H,_M,_P) is checked

also make sure Avid Compatible Audio in that same menu is checked

check this thread

yea your right mmost, RR doesnt load the proxies and i am def. using RR to create the ALE. The transcodes are going into a seperate folder along with the ALE. Weird I will delete all the QTs and ALE and start again.

Hey thanks guys esp. Joe that was the issue,
a trap for young players, will pass the info. around
Cheers john

I got an ALE like this once. I opened it up in Notepad/TextEdit and did a replace all of "_H.mov" with ".mov" and saved the ALE file and everything worked out fine after that.
