  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Helicopter

Who made this Red Helicopter, and how much did it cost?

When I meat with Noel and Robin, at NAB, I spoked about the interest in one for my company, but as they explained the complex requirement to run the State of the Art Flying Machine, not a toy, then I agree with Robin's explanation as why their services must be acquired when needing such shots for any projects. Jim I think is the only one that is getting one of this, out side of their own Skyreel company. made by the guys from Skyreel, follow the link below

Ciao

how much does that camera weigh the way they got it set up?

This helicopter is built by a company called MoBB. That helicopter is a modified 'MovieCat TS'.

This Aerial Camera ship comes with a price tag of almost 30K. You can by one from the North American distributor of MoBB helicopters:

The "Movie Cat" is a completely different helicopter than the SkyReel UAV! We asked MOBB to redesign their "Movie Cat" to make it capable of carrying the RED One, and to this date they are unique. If you look more closely at the pictures you've linked your thread to, you will notice that the rotor system is completely different (it is only a two bladed rotor with a flybar, not robust enough to fly RED Ones competently) and the turbine and belt placement and configuration is completely different! MOBB was involved, but this was a completely custom project. We brought their engineers as well as a JetCat turbine engineer from Germany to build these for us.

I should also point out that I have gutted and completely rebuilt the pan-tilt mount to carry the RED One. The RED buttons are purely cosmetic.

Just a clarification for anyone thinking they can order one of these off the shelf for 30K and fly a RED One. The autopilot systems alone cost $45K per machine, nevermind the data downlink systems capable of handling a RED feed.

Feel free to PM me if you need further clarification.

Does anyone have a link to SkyReel Footage on 4K? They don't seem to be responding to web notices on their site, including queries for hire.

Are they still in business??
