This months American Cinematographer has a 7 cam shootout between RED, D21, HPX300, F23,F35,Viper and 4 35mm film stocks in an Arri 435.

I don't believe the article is online yet so go out and get a copy!

thanks david. haven't had a chance to check it out yet. Can't wait to read it and the results column.

BSC Tests

BSC Tests

BSC conducted even bigger comprehensive tests at Pinewood Studios which included 17 different cameras covering 35mm & 16mm film, large sensor HD cameras (including Red One, D-21, F35, Genesis etc), medium sensor (2/3") and small sensor HD cameras. These were a mixture of interiors & exteriors and are currently being graded by Ascent Media and The Hat Factory.

The tests were shot by a number of BSC cameramen headed by Sue Gibson the current BSC President. Oh but if your expecting an "outcome" your be disappointed because they were meant to be impartial so you can make your own mind up free of any manufacturer influance.

Subjective at best.

Also apples to oranges. The costs of some of these different systems make it difficult to "compare" in the real world.

That said, I am curious to see results.

"A report about the CAS test results will be published in our September issue." LINK >>>

Also Jim expressed a bit his frustration over some of ASC "dealings" around RED1: LINK>>>

So we can take this article with a bit of salt... or...

The war is still on between the cine digital camera makers...

But to give you a little sniff:
