Hey Guys,

Got a bit of a problem on set with Time lapse settings. We're on Build 17 (Haven't had a chance to upgrade to 18 yet) using 320gb red drives and when we try to record time lapse, a folder is created for the clip but nothing is in it. Reading up on it i think it may have something to do with with GPIO and trying to use an external trigger. However this is just a stab in the dark as i'm fairly new to the Red. If anyone has encountered this before or knows what the problem is i would appreciate it if you could let me know the solution.

Thanks, Simon.

Sounds like timelapse is set to 'one shot' but it needs to be set to 'interval'
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Just had exactly the same problem, and it was a very avoidable mistake. When you enable time-lapse, its very easy to knock the joystick and switch to one shot mode instead of interval. Luckily we can reshoot as the conditions this morning were lame anyway. Pity it was a 4AM call time!

Not sure about Unique Vs Repeated. I've always kept it on unique.

Anyone care to enlighten me as to what repeated will do?

Repeat mode in Time Lapse

Unique means that for each frame captured one frame is recorded.

Repeated means that for each frame captured N frames are recorded.

Its analogous to a step print instruction in film terms....

i.e if N=3 your final movies isn't comprised of frames -

ABCDEFGHILJKLMNO

its

AAABBBCCCDDDEEE

thanks for that.

Just had the same thing happen to us today in the field. Same build, same situation.

Glad to find this article in time to go out again tomorrow.

stuart - does this mean that ONE frame is actually repeated N times?
is there a way to record N frames at a set interval eg. say 3 consecutive (different) frames every 15 seconds? the result would be ABC (15 sec gap) DEF (15 sec gap) GHI etc

I have similar question like Peter Savage. Is it possible to record one frame after 12frames. It means, record 2 frames per socond?

WTF, guys? This thread is OLD, why dig it up?

Varispeed allows you to record as low as 1fps. So yeah, you can record 2fps, or 3fps, or whatever.

RTFM.

jeff - it's true this is an old thread but sometimes that's what people find and they ask a question. I think it is worth giving helpful answers with some level of courtesy

Not that I want to get into an argument on courtesy and "nettiquette", but it's often better to start a new thread with your question. Even more so when dealing with time-sensitive technical topics such as this one. There is information in this thread, discussing issues with Build 17 and 18 of the RED One firmware, that no longer applies and people may not pay attention to the older dates in this thread or realize that the info is obsolete.

Sorry if I came across rude. You're right, my post wasn't all that nice. Was not my intent...

You are right of course about the age of the thread and it's out of date info. And I agree it is better to start a new thread - I think sometimes people use the not-so-great search facility on RedUser and find a thread that relates to their question without looking at the date.
Anyway... no offence taken at all.

I never got an answer to my question of all that time ago though :-)

cheers

peter
