In the coming months, RedRelay will begin to unfurl its latest iteration complete with a fully customized CMS built specifically for the handling of RED content. This next-generation-ready version was built by the wondrous talents of Adam Heath of vivacreative across the pond and, as always, sponsored by Ian Bloom and his host of services and software.

Version 3 of the site includes (but is not limited to) a complete management system for RED footage Contributors allowing them to control the content displayed on their page should they desire. A list-form sorting view allowing visitors to sort footage by frame rate, aspect, resolution, and ISO to name a few.

How it works:

A RED Contributor will be able to request a login via a form on the site to gain access (All existing contributors will be contacted prior to launch to set up their profiles).

Once confirmed, a Contributor will complete the profile information including website links, reduser profile links, and an assortment of other useful pieces of information (mostly optional fields).

A zipped file containing a video or image file will be uploaded by a Contributor via FTP access generated by the site and sent to the Contributor.

After a file is uploaded, a Contributor simply logs in or refreshes their management page and the site automatically detects the presence of the new file. The system then asks the Contributor to put in pertinent information about their clip, including the sorting information listed above, and allows for the upload of a thumbnail clip of the Contributors choice.

That's it. The file is immediately available to the world. No more waiting on me to update it by hand!

To all of you who have requested logins in the past weeks, please be patient. An email will be sent to you upon launch with instructions on how to apply. It would simply be too difficult to add anyone at the current time.

In addition to all of this, we will begin requesting donations upon the download of a file. Of course, you can ignore it, it won't be a popup or anything, but it will certainly help offset bandwidth overages which have been building over the last few months. Certainly with this new version and the EPIC and SCARLET coming out in the relatively near future, we will need any help we can get to help sustain this FREE service to the RED community.

Thanks for your patience. I can't wait to share this with you all.

Best,
Chris
