Hey everyone.

I've been working on this project for my HD Cinematography class for the last 8 weeks or so...thought that I would show it off here as I am very proud of it.

Just wait until I get my Scarlet...this is just to demonstrate my potential!:sifone:

Let me know how you like it yo's!

EDIT: My bad Craig!
Shot on a JVC GHY-100U 720p24

All natural lighting with just a lot of bounce boards and mirrors.
Used a GenieJib
And a SteadyTracker2 Monopod for handheld shots.

Bravo! Invoked memories with a touch of bitter sweetness.:thumbup1:

Nice work Peter! Very evocative indeed; I especially loved the crane shot in the beginning, reminded me of the basement in War of the Worlds; a comparison to Kaminski's work can't be bad can it? :sifone:

But come on you should know that here on Reduser we DEMAND the tech specs :hand: What did you shoot on?

Craig, Thanks a lot bro! =]

I updated the first post to include Tech Specs and Lighting specs. I appreciate the feedback from both of you.
 cheers!

Sweet; all natural with reflectors I think usually makes the most beautiful images if you know how to use it.

I haven't seen a lot of 100u footage before, so this is good to see how it handles dynamic scenes. Looked like the reflectors helped a lot to help dynamic range too. Good eye. Did you guy's eyeball it on the monitor or use a light meter?

So where are you going to school?

I go to DePaul University in the Digital Cinema program.

We eyeballed it for the most part. We had a spot meter that we used every now and then mostly just to gauge what our contrast ratio was.

The one thing that I can't stand about the 100U though is the lens has the worst chromatic aberrations ever. We did a lot of after effecting to make the footage look decent.

Other than that, I can't complain! The focus fall off was better than I expected when the lens was partially zoomed in so for the most part we kept it like that to give the background a nice little OOF look.

Peter,

Was the low-mode shot across the wet floor done with the steadytracker?

It was. We just held it upside down and flipped the image in post and it worked great.

Just thought I'd update everyone by letting you all know that this film won multiple awards last night at DePaul University's (where I go to school) end of the year film festival.

We won Best Cinematography and Best in Show (by popular vote of the audience). I am extremely pleased with these honors and plan on entering it into many more festivals with the rest of my fellow filmmakers.

Peter, I am sorry that I could not make it but I am very happy for you and your team. Your film was quite deserving...

I look forward to hangin' out soon.

Cheers,

Andrew

Great job.

See, I love films like this being posted on this forum. It puts the tool blaming to bed easily.

Talent is everything. You can haz it.

Much thanks Ian.

Thank you very much. We are very pleased with the reception it has gotten so far.

I agree with the tool blaming argument, however, there was one shot where I wish we would have had the DR of the Scarlet so that it wasn't so noisy when we lifted the brightness in post (the part where she's in the dark hallway, right before she walks into the Memories Room).
