We are having an issue where the onset picture on the monitor has much lower blacks and more saturation then the Red lcd, and redcine, we are on build 17, Redspace/Rec 709, while we can simply lower the saturation alot on the onset monitor and raise the brightness a bit so it all matches from onset to redcine and red lcd, I just wanted to know if this is normal, or a possible problem with our redone.

Do you all find the output of the redone to be quite saturated and contrasty.

We tried a few different monitors, and all looked very contrasty and saturated compared to red lcd and back in the studio in redcine.

Any info on this appreciated.

Thanks

Aren't the gamma and colour space the same off the camera?

Have you changed it in redcine to redspace/rec709 ?

Normally if you shoot redspace it will be redspace/redspace so thats what your viewing on set and like you said slightly more contrasty and saturated.

Yea in redspace we put it on the same as when we shot, we dont' use redspace/redspace, but even if we did, redspace/redspace on our monitor on set is way way contrasty/saturated then the red lcd, or redcine back at the studio, just wondering if the outputs on the red cam are meant to be much more contrasty/saturated then the red lcd and redcine, basically are the outputs meant to be much more saturated then a regular output, for example, if we shoot redspace/rec709, take that and render it to dvd, then play that dvd on a hdtv, its way different to the output from the red camera.

This may be too simple an answer, but maybe someone jacked up the brightness on your onboard LCD. Someone from the RED team here recently suggested it be set to 4 or 5 clicks down from the highest setting.
