BLUE frames?

Im a Data wrangler, so i watch the takes for any framedrops, errors, etc. The thing is when we use red discs to record on, there is almost always a blue frame in the start of the tape. it's not a problem because the files can go through redrushes and be used, but im just wondering why there sometimes is a blue frame(not a framedrop) in the start of the take? It looks like a framedrop and colourize the whole picture in blue and greyish. Sometimes it is also green? I don't have that much experience in these field because im very new in the whole digital image world including that red is so new.

sounds like anouther case of not hiring a DIT

ok I know you said that you can export the footage through red rushes, fine. but unless you check and export every single clip that is effected there is no way in knowing for sure that the data is secure. making this quite a serious problem.

I actuly had this issue on set but it only happend twice randomly and never happend again. but i can tell you where to start looking. first try recording on the CF cards and see if you have the same problem. If you do this rules out any drive issue.

if you don't try using a difrent drive cable and/or drive.

I heard that some times you can get a slight voltage drop on record on the sensor thus not dumping all of the information from all the channles to the drive. checking or replacing the battery plate can solve this as they get worn down after a while and tend to cause problems.

during lunch (this is a 20-30 min job including black shading and setting up the camera again) you could reinstall the firmware, or wind back to a older version but this sould be somthing a DIT should do!

If you can't solve it on set, i would strongley advice swapping out the body, drives and cradle as you can't be sure the footage is all safe and readable.

it's not somthing I personly would like to take chances with.

First off all, we have been using cards on another production with the same equipment, and they never made any blueframes, but they did make framedrops sometime, but that was a software thing. We switches over to disc because you could store alot more, and solved the whole stress factor of cleaning the cards fast because we only had 4 cards, and this was a big production.
Now im on another prod. where we use discs instead but same equipment. We have 4 discs and it is regulary "happining" on all of them. i've found out that it is happening randomly,but it seems like it's only one file/take pr disc. I have tried different cables and it's the same. So far i haven't heard any errors from the editor, and what i heard is that red rushes can't convert the files if they have a error/framedrop. So it doesn't seem like it cause any problems...but i still wanna find out if we can avoid it. i looks like other people are experiencing it too.
