In July I will be renting the Red camera for a weekend music video shoot. This will be my first time with the camera (Well I will go to the rental house first to play with it a bit before my pickup date) and I have a question about lenses.

The camera package comes with the red 18mm - 50mm zoom lens included. I want to rent some primes if I have to.

My choices are:

Zeiss 35mm ZF Prime Lens Set (8 lenses) with Nikon F Mounts $185.00
(18mm, 25mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 50mm Macro, 85mm & 100mm )

or

Cooke primes which I can only afford 2. $120.00 each
(14mm, 18mm, 25mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 75mm and 100mm)

With Zeiss lenses, can I still shoot with full 4k?

What I will be shooting is in a dark basement full of intricate rooms and will need a lot of closeups.

Any info will be helpful.

Thanks

You'll need the primes for what you're shooting unless you can get some nice lighting. There just won't be enough stop to get you far in a dark basement. If you don't think you'll have much light to work with, I'd opt for the Zeiss ZFs as you'll get more stop out of those. Superspeeds would be nice or if you could get a hold of a set of K35 superspeeds you'll be in good shape too.

I will have a full grip van with plenty of lights and a gaffer with over 20 years of experience. So lighting I don't think will be an issue. My main question is, are the Nikon F mounts compatible with 4k??? Someone told me that you can only shoot 2k with F mount lenses.
