I am testing out cineform NEO 4K. Wondering what other people think of the codec. We are trying our work around from the AJA 10 bit 4:2:2 codec to see if we get any better output. We are working in 1080p. Which video playback should I be in to view playback on my external monitor?

Thanks,

Todd

AJA and Cineform are working together to make Cineform clips playback better with Kona 3. Cineform codec is very efficient codec sort of like R3D. They are both using wavelet compression. I highly recommend using Cineform as the universal master codec. I'm planning to save the finished projects that I received as DPX to Cineform 12-bit RAW or 444 to save disk space.

Also, David x2 and Craig are so helpful even in this forum and very aware about RED workflow.

Well I have not yet created cineform files but wanted to test the sequence preset. I have chenged my sequence settings to Cineform compression. I cannot get my external monitor to playback. what playback setting should I be in?

Todd, I don't think video can play motion with Kona 3 at this moment. Maybe Xena can.
I tried to playback on Multibridge Pro but only shows still frames but won't playback motion. MXO does play though (edit:plays somewhat, with 2K size, not that fluently).

I do not think the driver that supports Kona playback on the Mac is released yet. It is part of the support for the products AJA announced at NAB. The driver version is 6.1, currently their web site still has 6.0.x.
