  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RELEASED: RED ADOBE CS4 INSTALLER (v1.7.0)

Scale to frame size works here... but do we have to do that for every shot we cut into a timeline as we edit? That's not a good edit workflow.

Goto Edit/pref/general/default scale to frame size, once that is on, u don't have to ever do it.

Stoked with the new workflow, all we need now is for adobe to buy out scratch, and bundle it in to there packages for a xtra few hundred, I know I'm dreaming, but if adobe did that, they'd rule the red world.

For those of you having problems with RED presets not showing up after installing RED 1.7 with Premiere 4.1, please try the following:

1) Shut down Premiere.

2) Delete your prefs.

On Mac, delete these three prefs:

Root/user/library/preferences/
com.adobe.AdobePremierePro.plist
com.Adobe.Premiere Pro.4.0.plist
com.Adobe.Premiere Pro.4.0.plist

On Vista64 delete this pref:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Premiere Pro\4.0
Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs

3) Restart Premiere.

Mike: thanks for that suggestion. Tried it. Did not solve the problem.

performance of AE renders ?

performance of AE renders ?

Mac platform AE users :

Am I the only one finding AE renders going way slower than (RA) REDAlert ? I like the flexibility of doing it all in AE, but the speed is killing throughput ...

Is ANYBODY getting the same render speed from AE as in RA (or better) ? If so how ? :crying:

Just Installed;
Premiere Pro CS4 (4.1)
REDCODE importer (v1.7.0)

On my MBP, I can only import proxies files but, I'm still unable import Native R3D files.
Any suggestion please...

I am also getting a red bar now with choppy playback (no matter the resolution)- instead of the yellow one that used to appear.

Running osx 10.5, 16gb ram, 8 core 3.2 harpertown

Anyone solved this?

Promise this is the last post about my inability to succesfully install Redcode Importer version 1.7.

I completely uninstalled CS4 from my Vista 64 PC. Reinstalled and updated to CS4 Premiere Pro 4.1. Still no luck getting the R3D presets to appear when the app opens. Anyone at Red Support or anyone else with a new solution?

I went ahead and uninstalled, then re-installed to Premiere Pro 4.0.1 and installed version 1.3 and it works fine. But I sure would like to be able to take advantage of the improvements in the 4.1 & 1.7 updates.

Thanks to all in advance.

Hi Joel,

I'd like to help sort out your 1.7 install issues. Please check your PM's from yesterday.

Once we find the solution, we can broadcast to all.

Thanks,

Mike

So far my experience with 1.7 is quite good. Although I've had to REDO all my subtitles to adapt from a 512X256 sequence to 1024x512, performance is good with the viewport at half-rez. Im on vista 64 and a laptop with a core2 extreme 2.8 Ghz cpu, connected to a Sony Bravia TV via DVI-HDMI conversor. Premiere outputs video playing at full screen to the Sony and now, at 1k, it looks far better than before. More performance subtle details can be reviewed now. Editing experience is overall better.

I just installed the updates and everything is working normally. Try re-installing Premiere and After Effects, and the Red plug-in. I'm 10.5.6 on a Mac-Pro.

MSI install fails - %temp% unacessible

MSI install fails - %temp% unacessible

I'm sorry to report I can't install the package, getting much the same error as some reported when installing previous version of the importer - it can be found searching for keyword %temp% on reduser, too.

OS - Win vista 64.

I extracted files from MSI manually and managed to copy prm,exe and presets to premiere's folders, works fine now. My problem, though, is AfterFX now. Among extracted files, there is no AEX file I'd copy to AE plug-in folder.

Could anyone help, please? Perhaps try to find that red importer AEX file in your AE plug-ins path, zip and e-mail to stepan@bistudio.com.. any other hints more than welcome, just I am stuck now a bit..

solved..

solved..

heh, go it.

So a guide for anyone lost like I was:

d/l app called universal extractor - search google for it. Run it and unpack MSI with the installer using default decompress option.

Copy all the presets from within PRESETS folder to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS4\Settings\SequencePresets - so that RED R3D folder with its preset contents is copied in this target folder.

Now, copy PRM and EXE to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\CS4\MediaCore

that's it, at least for me. AFX recognizes R3D, the same with Prem. Even though importer is a premiere filter, AE still can use it in this folder correctly.

Uffff... :sifone: I'd rather avoid this sort of reverese engineering :)

possible this question was posted before....

is AE always doin a full debayer or where we can change that ?

is it done in the render queue with resolution to full and quality best ?

thx

Yes, in the Render Queue. I have not found anything anywhere else.

Thanks a lot for the tip - tried your way but AE still misses the aex file and shows an error when I start it.
I also run a Vista 64 system - seems like has something to do with that. has anybody another suggestion how to solve this problem?

Got After Effects to work finally.

The REDSettingsPal.aex file was in the presets folder of AE. Still AE couldn´t load it when launched.
I deleted it, and reinstalled the plugin - now it works fine. The .aex must have been from the old Red-Plugin, because it wasn´t installed again.

IF you right clik on a clip in the libray, interpret footage, then chose more options, this gets you to the red settings in ae.

Hello RED TEAM This is forth request Please find the solution.

1- This is 3rd attempt, I Re-installed OS X 10.5.7 on MBP (Uni body 2.9Ghz 17 + 4GB)
2- Then Adobe CS4 Production Suite + Current Up Date + RED CS4 Installer 1.7.0

Works fine, I can Import R3D (Native) + proxies files (I can access all 5 file in media browser).

3- After test, I Installed Final Cut Suite 2.0 in Same MBP.
Now I can only Import Proxies in premiere pro and I don't see R3D native File in my Media Browser (I can only see 4 Proxies File in Media Browser).

Any suggestion please...
