Posting this message after watching angels & demons and I have not seen the name of red one in the end credits.

Any reason for this?

Sure. The same reason you don't see Photosonics or Phantom in most credit rolls. Red was not the primary camera on the picture, it was used only for some green screen work. Other than that, it was a film show.

And often the only reason you see a credit for the main camera used is not for the sake of the historical record, but because it was contractually mandated in the rental agreement.

I've seen movies shot on Fuji negative with a Kodak logo at the end because release prints were on Kodak stock.

Geez, and all this time I have been telling people it was shot on the RED.

:-(

That was the case, then Red couldn't be claiming it on the shot on red page?

I've seen in no of films including "The Spirit" where Phantom was credited.

Well said. This is nothing more than a business.

The fx plates from G.I. Joe are flim, most of it is. You'll see some outdoor shots on the Red that you'll spot in two seconds. Those scenes could have been cut, not sure, will know when I see the whole movie soon.

Panasonic could have said the Departed was shot on an hvx-200 but they didn't want to. (it was just one pick up scene)

Me too! :-(

I think if Red is being credited on films, it needs to be made clear how much it was used - otherwise it's just misleading and leads to Red users unintentionally bigging up the Red and being discredited if it turns out only a few shots or only process shots were done with the Red.

If you go to the Shot on Red page, of Red.com and click on Angels and Demons, it reads the following:

"Angels & Demons (RED ONE used for VFX shots)"

I don't see how this is misleading whatsoever.

Yes, but the page is named "Shot on Red"! Anyone not having the inclination or time to click on every link may well be mislead, and the list is growing daily. I know Jumper wasn't really shot on Red, but only because I frequent Reduser, but I still missed that Angels & Demons wasn't.

Edit: And actually, clicking on the Jumper link does not indicate that Red was not used for the majority of photography.

I'm not accusing anyone of intentional misinformation. It's just unfortunate that it's not made VERY clear. I big up Red all the time, but now I have to correct myself. It just gives ammunition to the naysayers who accuse Red of being overhyped.

Agreed, Eric. . .

. . . from one ignoramous to another.

I shot the CERN footage for Angel & Demons using RED.
We shot there for 4 days last year before CERN was turned on.

The shoot was fun, very interesting location, it was very much like being inside an old Swiss watch.

I worked with Angus who is a genius and extremely talented.
The film looks fantastic with the effects being seamless and beautiful to watch.

CERN is an amazing place and it was great to capture the ATLAS on RED.
Most of the film was shot on 35mm but RED was used at CERN and a few other effects shots.

Bring on EPIC :-)
