So I am about to buy one of the new mac's, and wondered if the new 2,66 quad-core Nehalem processor is good enough for working with Red material? What do I miss by not getting a 8 core (except speed of course)? And how much slower will it work?

Hope someone have the ability to answer a not-an-expert-on-computer-person :)

Hi are

If you are going to be doing any seroius amout of redering of RED footage, an 8 core Mac will be worth the investment.

The new quad core machines are also limited in RAM expansion, which will limit performance further

Even with RedRushes driving all 8 cores to 100%, it still takes a while....

The quad-core will work OK, but for RED rendering an 8 core would be worth the extra
