  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Pelican vs Storm cases

The new latches on the Pelicans are night and day difference between the old design. I just used someone's old Pelican on my last shoot and I had forgotten how BAD they were. But with the new latches, I think they are almost as easy to open as the Storm cases.

Legacy Pelican Man!!! I find them a bit tougher than Storms. Latches are tough and I really don't belong to the Manicure Club!!!

The new pelican latches design are far better than any other latch I have seen. Needless to say far better than any revers engineered fake pelican case I have seen. I will only comment on Pelicans as I work exclusively with them; buy Pelican, huge range and great warranty.

Hey all,

Today for a shoot I rented a Camwave HD which was delivered to me in a Nanuk 920 case and I must say I was impressed (by both). The Nanuk cased seemed to me stronger and lighter than Pelicans and Storms of the same size as well as sporting a VERY nice and smart latch design and being simply very slick and good looking. Seeing it in the flesh is far more impressive than seeing it on the brochure.

Note I did say stronger, not sturdier. Pelican looks like it can take a sustained beating of rental abuse simply because it is heavier. Storm will flex when crushed but will still protect your gear. Nanuk is sort of... better. It won't flex, it looks strong, but it doesn't looks as sturdy as Pelican since it's not as heavy.

It really is a rotting shame they don't do them with wheels and telescoping handles yet!
