  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Test pilots...

I'm on a feature in June, otherwise I would love to test this out. We've had some nice results with Tungsten, but would certainly welcome any improvements.

Looking forward to see what comes out of this. Will the testing be public or will test pilots be reporting directly to RED in an NDA sort of way?

Thanks guys!

It will also be helpful if you have a color temperature meter (like a Sekonic).

I am free until June 6th, if I can be of any help, I'll be glad to test this.

Just sold my "old Sekonic L-778" that was more for a film photo camera but ready to buy brand new model for a digital if needed.

Please count me in, if you still need help. I'm here in LA, and have time.

Thanks,

Any color temp meter is fine, but it really helps if I have a good reference for what "white" looks like from say a grey card or a "proper" Macbeth chart or a DSC chart, and a meter reading of what the color temp of the light is too. You can still do subjective tests without them, but having the tools really helps me help you get better colours.

Lets Go...

I'm down for some some Mad Science.

I am game....just let me know

Graeme has just completed a new version of RED Color Science and we are looking for a few test pilots to try it out.

The improvements are meaningful and improve image color throughout the spectrum but specifically address shooting under tungsten light.

We will pick a handful of volunteers that have no other commitment for about a week. You need to NOT be in the middle of a shoot and have time to run tests without the pressure of switching builds back and forth during the testing period.

You will get a new firmware build for the camera and a new RED Alert! to open the files. After testing, you will be able to go back to your old build... or a newer build that includes this color science if it is as successful in testing as we think it will be. If and when we make the decision to change to the new color, we will change the SDK to incorporate the new color and inform all that use the SDK.

Any takers?
