I've got a client working with Premiere who needs rendered files to work with (he's got an older machine and CS3). I'm on a Mac. Is rendering to 1080p MJPEG Quicktimes going to give him:

a) reasonable image quality
b) reasonable edit performance?

Hi Trevor,

a) It's on the eye of the beholder. There are poeple who only accept full debayer and dpx others find half debayer and ProRes sufficient, others may like MJPEG. Normally MJPEG is considered to be an offline format.

b) Because MJPEG copresses each single frame editing performance should fine.

..and ensure the exposure of each video is already set, when You export to 8-bit format MJPG is. Simply adjust exposure, levels and colors roughly to something acceptable. If anyone will tweak exposure significantly with MJPG data, banding will appear very possibly on the sky and any other pure gradient.
