Saw it today. The movie exceeded my expectations. I think McG has redeemed himself to some extent. It's quite obvious that he, the cast and the crew put huge amounts of time, thought and effort into this picture.

T4 is pretty much one kick-ass action set piece after another, strung together very little melodrama -- thank god. The only thing the movie lacks is a bigger vision, a broader, coherent philosophy -- something to elevate it above just being a simple action picture. To some degree, T4 is able to borrow some of this broader philosophical credibility from Cameron's original story, to which it stays true. You're not going to get much new in terms of the general story, but you do get a non-stop thrill ride and some glimpses at future technology and warfare that many of us have been eager to see since the 80s.

This is a credible action picture, and one that I think will do very well at the box office. It will have a high "rewatchability" factor. I'm giving this picture a thumbs up.

The action stuff is worth watching a couple times. But this is a pure action movie. The story and plot could be told in 3 sentences probably. I thought the lead guy was a pretty solid actor but I didn't love either Bale nor the main girl. There was enough hokey dialogue to take me out of the movie (and that's saying something 'cause there isn't much dialogue!)

The machines all kicked ass... if you loved Transformers you owe it to yourself to see this.

I loved the movie but kept wanting to hear the old score, especially right before the reveal of you know who... They could have thrown in a few bars when he came out. Other than that I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and the theater had the volume cranked to the max...which was bad asssss.

Rambo

Rambo

Tom,

sorry off tangent a bit…
but did you like the last Rambo.

I had a friend that kept harping on me to see it. So I went and saw it.

For me, for what it was, it was fun. I had low (make that really low) expectations going in. But it was fun, and the sniper in the tower at night scene...awesome.

I haven't seen T4 yet but I sort of feel like I want to keep (now it's going to be a bit harder) my expectations low.

Anyways cool that you liked it.

Side note: I was a 98D in the army and my first duty station during the 1st Gulf War was in Augsburg Germany. I remember vividly, when I first walked into the main Intel gathering building there (big Cray computers, big screens, satellite map overlays)... thinking "dude this is where it will all start... this is Skynet."
:head_explode:

HA those were the days.

Yeah. I was 200km away from you in Amberg, Germany just before and after the 1st Gulf War, as a 19 Delta with the 2nd ACR, at the spearhead of VII Corps. :sifone: The good old days....

Regarding Rambo, I think I just saw a Bluray rip. I think that movie was okay. The trouble is, these types of movies really have no plot whatsoever.

Saw it today. The movie exceeded my expectations.

It's a shame we have to wait another two weeks to see it in Europe. :(

The first 45min was entertaining....pretty gripping story, cinematography, action sequences. The movie hits a point halfway through where the story and realism go downhill IMHO. By the end I found it painful and annoying. So many plot holes and anything involving skynet (it's operation, sense of scale, building security, etc) didn't make sense.

Well I'm a little embarrassed now that everyone else hates it. :blushing:

I just liked some of the action set pieces. I guess I'm just hungry for any kind of futuristic sci-fi.

I didn't know you are a singularitarian.

It was great that they followed the story line of the original series, but what's is with shaking the camera so hard on the action sequences so much that it makes the viewer experience motion sickness. I had to close my eyes during many of the actions scenes and I felt sick for 24 hours. Not that young any more.
