Having tried before both the Arri and Clairmont swing shift systems I was looking for an alternative system to be used on my Red. Since Cambo is a dutch company I turned to them since they have a very good swing shift system, the X2 pro. http://www.cambo.com/Html/news/set01/english/internet/ItemHome27.html Their system have Nikon and Canon EOS mounts, and since I own a Nikon Mount I asked them if they could adapt it for my camera which they did. One of the great advanteges of the system is that they can use a wide variety of taking lenses including Mamiya 645 and RZ and Hasselblad. You can also use View lenses if you buy another lens board. One other advantage is the fact that by not using a traditional bellows system the stress on the bellows is less and extreme angles are easier to set and hold in that position. Since Cambo has a booth at the IBC they asked me to show it to other people to see if there is interest from other redusers so they might start producing it. I hope to have a price in the coming days .
Limitations so far are the fact that you have to turn the Arri base plate around to be able move the tray as close as possible to the body and that since a PL mount has a flange to focal plane distance of 52mm and Nikon has 46,5 the range to adjust will be smaller when using the Mamiya adapter (which I am using right now). If you use view lenses than this won't be much of a problem. However in the coming days they will adapt the bellows with a PL mount, so we can see what possibilities that will bring. I own an IMS mount system but have not put it on my camera yet, but that will be great solution to combine these two. Hereby a still from a shot I took last week and some pics of this beta version that they built for me. Cambo will be on the IBC at Hall11 E71. You need a Red universal mount to put it on the 19mm rods. BTW I don't work for Cambo, I just hink that this might be a new more affordable tool for Red users.
