guys,

we're in Cannes on the festival and have problems to back up one drive; it copies 98% and then just hangs ! We tried all the known tricks so far, but nothing seems to work.
Did somebody else come along a similar issue ?

cheers, oliver

Are you using drag and drop or something like R3D Data Manager?

It must be something to do with ... C:yikes:annes

Have you been able to isolate which clips go bad? Can you download the trial of R3D Data Manager and see if you have any better luck? You can get a trial version here.

http://www.r3ddata.com/contact/trial/

If this works for you there may be something going on with your system. Even before doing the trial I would do some diagnostics on your system.

Repair Disk Permissions
Use Disk Warrior (make sure you are using the right version for your OS and computer)

This way you can make sure the destination directories are okay and the system is healthy in general.

Then I would use the R3d Data trial. At the very least it will tell you which files had trouble.

Steve,

thx a lot for all the advice; the clips in question are the 3 last one on the red drive, and i guess we know also what happend: camera operator was alone in a car and never checked battery status, therefore he run out of voltage....

So this happened during the first transfer attempt. The computer shut down before it was complete? Do I have that correct?

When you have problems copying, it would be wether files on the original drive are broken, or the portion of the media on the drive you are copying to have bad sectors.

Oh, okay. So, were these 3 clips all part of one take, i.e spanned R3D files? Was it a long take? This would break the clip into multiple 2GB R3D files.
