  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Firmware Hacked! Canon 5D Mark II - Auto Gain Control Disabled!

All hail hudson!

The fact that Iron Man II and Harry Potter are apparently shooting some scenes with 5D2s that already have the 24p firmware update and some manual control makes me feel more confident that a serious firmware update is inevitable. Otherwise, why would they give these cameras to Iron Man II with 24p and manual control?

That's an interesting rumor, but I'd heard from Canon that not only does such a firmware not exist, but is not possible. The frame rate is hard-wired.

Hello there

Are there any links to articles about this firmware story? I would love to read more. I just picked up a 5DMKII and am assessing it's viability in certain application for our post/production company.

Thanks

Not bad- doesn,t Canon realize they'd sell a ton of these if they,d simply
offer the options people want?

Problem is they'd sell a ton "more" of something they are having a difficult enough time keeping up with demand on and risk selling much "less" of their prosumer and professional video cameras they have plenty of.

Well, that video looks okay but there is a difference between be able to short a film and just making a serie of very short shoots like this...

Still happy by the way, that my 5d II get hacked, and hope it's just a start :)

WHAT prosumer and professional cameras? Does Canon even have a legitimate prosumer professional line of digital cinema cameras right now? I don't think so. To me, their lilne of HD cinema cameras seems washed up and uninspired. Right now, the 5D2 is selling like hotcakes. With the firmware update, they will sell at an even faster pace.

Definitely...great short, well executed. Nice to have powerful imaging tools you can carry in the palm of your hand.

Fantastic side note: anyone notice that the guy who punches the camera/person in the face was Pauly Shore? Love how random that was, like the main character had just told Mr. Shore how much his work has fallen off since Son in Law...
