Yes I know its only seculation at this point. But I need a relatively small DSLR form of the Scarlett that still will shot great, which might be the best options. I need to get a small XLR balanced shotgun mic on it as well.

I am wondering if the fixed with some of the lens inside the body of the camera with a handle, and scarlet eyepiece will be the smallest. Though wondering if the slightly smaller (if I'm correct) ff35 or s35 with a nikon mount and some relatively small dslr lenses might be smaller? I basically need something that looks like a DSLR with a mic and not a monster like some of the pics i have seen:yikes:

Are you going to be using this for still or motion work? If still I'd say that the 8x fixed won't have the resolution you want, but if motion it's going to depend on the resolution/recording time you think you need. The XLR should be easy to accomodate. either with the I/O module or through a secondary module going into the 3.5mm jack on the brain.

There have been several renders of almost exactly what you've asked for, but I imagine there will be mounting options announced as the release date nears.

No just motion, documentary work where I need to shot low profile but still need great visuals and sound. My work computer I'm on now wont let me check the pictures but it looks like the scarletts have pro audio inputs even the fixed lens? or it might be a slimmer I/O module that I heard was being worked on?

We don't have definitive info, but there's been substantial assurance that there will be options for audio while still staying compact if necessary.

I'm fairly sure that the s35 Scarlet is a bit smaller than the 2/3" version, because the 2/3" one has to have more electronics for the lens in the front or something. It would depend a lot on what 35mm lens you used though...

I heard the same as well which seems a little strange as I thought a major point of the 2/3 thing was to be smaller????

If the pics I have seen http://scarletuser.com/showthread.php?t=2906 are fairly accurate for the finished model then I am thinking the s35 might be the neatest package. I wonder if the fixed scarlet will give the choice of eyepiece rather than LCD. I guess its going to come down to the image/cost ratio in the end between the fixed and s35/ff35.

I think it's that the fixed lens version is larger because the way it's designed part of the lens is housed within the body. The 2/3 interchangeable wouldn't be as large.

I think the point of the 2/3 is to be cheaper, I don't think it's supposed to be any smaller than the other Scarlet brains.

One important thing regarding the size, is which modules are needed to be ready for shooting with the other Scarlets. The extra modules might still make the others bigger than the fixed version.

maybe but as far as I can tell the fixed lens will still have a red handle, and a red eyepiece and posibly a slim i/o module. So basically when it means complete kit what it really means is it comes with the basics to shot...i think.

I just looked again at pics and the s35 actually looks considerably smaller if you look the fixed lens camera seems to have a deeper body. have a look I may be mistaken its late here. http://scarletuser.com/showthread.php?t=2906

The Fixed won't come with any aftermarket Red accessories like the redhandle, IO module or such as far as I've understood. Just some kind of mysterious "kit" that should contain a CF module, some kind of screen or viewfinder(maybe something like the 3" 920k dot screen seen on every new DSLR??) and something to power it and control it. I imagine the kit will require an external mic with a 3.5mm jack to record sound(unless you cough up more dough for the slim or pro IO module) and might also contain a robust handle or something.

There hasn't been much info about the fixed 8x Scarlet, so we'll have to wait and see what they come up with for the coming fall.

Don't forget that there are two different 2/3" Scarlets.

The fixed and the interchangeable.

The interchangeable should be quite small.

Interchangeable scarlet 2/3 is probably smalest body. Others need to be wider due of bigger sensors and more heat etc
