Hello everybody,
I have some footage shooted in 3k (the photographer wasnt aware of the fcp issues with 3k), and i want to edit it in FCP, in a Mac Pro 8core.
Is there a way to resize these footages from 3k to 2k? Is there any workflow to edit in FCP without too much renders, etc?

Thanks.

I don't think there is. You'll have to scale them in a red program or after effects.

One light in Redcine and transcode, or just straight transcode in redrushes to prores and offline edit. Conform via crimson or monkey back to 3K r3d's for final full debayer output to 1080 (or whatever you like).

I've had no issues editing with 3k footage using F/H/M proxies in FCP, then transcoding selects to 2k or 1080 for Color and online. Use Monkey or Crimson to automate this process after the cut is locked.

Mauro,

As of know FCP doesnt understand and scale down 3K to 2k and you can only debayer to half of the resolution if you use FCP L&T.

Thanks everyone! I used the REDCINE and REDRUSHES (later) to transform de R3D 3k to 2k and edited in FCP easily.
