  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Selling of a set of 5 mint condition Zeiss MKII superspeeds

18mm - T1.3
25mm - T1.3
35mm - T1.3
50mm - T1.3
85mm - T1.3

They come with their own flight case with fitted foam.

These lenses are in excellent condition,they have been serviced and collimated and are adapted so they are more like MKIII's than MK II's. Asking price $39,000.

Based in the UK.



 
With all the new PL glass hitting at the moment, and people waiting to see how that shakes out, you´re going to need to drop that price considerably.

You can get a new set of Optica Elites for about that price. Nice set though, just my thoughts...

Optica elites are unproven glass and so far haven't remotely beaten Zeiss in any way. Perhaps for people looking for a low budget Red kit you might be correct but there are still many people out there looking for decent Zeiss glass rather than take there chances on the lenses you mentioned.

I certainly wouldnt want to use anything like that on a project with decent money behind it, nor would many DP's who would consider at a minimum super speeds before Optica elites.

Zeiss are more expensive for a reason

Agree also, but in reality...IMHO the price is almost double what i would expect. There was a set of MK3's around for considerably less than that only a couple weeks back.

What's even more lame is all their assertions (thus far) are based on speculation and faith, not tests, real world shooting and footage. Superspeeds are a great match for RED, especially for those night exteriors where 250-320 is less than ideal. That extra stop (missing in the new glass) I find most essential for narrative shooting on RED. Until I can use the new lenses and footage it's all hype.

Good luck on the sale. Guaranteed you'll get rid of these as Dp's and Producers aren't about to abandon a trusted name over the unproven.

Lenses are always worth what buyers are ready to pay for them. That's the rules of free market. And since you don't seem to have found a buyer in almost two weeks you might consider this a reason...
 
There's some latent resentment of what's happened to lens prices in the last 18 months. Everybody's adult enough to understand why it happened, but only sellers are happy about it.
 
I'm closing this thread down. Many of the comments here are disruptive and rude. But at the same time, the original post is essentially spam.
