Just heads up that we shot the April 14th Green Day show at the Fox Theatre in Oakland on 11 Reds the other night. I had the talents of Reduser participants ZF Films, Ernesto Lomeli, and Anders Yarbrough onboard. I directed the mess.

Pictures to come. Bits of it will be released in the VERY near future for the rollout of their new album on May 18th. Without saying shizz I'm not supposed to say, I can say it will be broadcast in HD very soon (so soon I might not make NAB!)

Nice Nate, my good friend Jeremy Wong was one of the first AC's on that gig. I got a call from Ryan at Utterbach on easter Sunday asking if my camera was available as a backup body on that shoot in case one of the cameras went down. Looking forward to seeing the footage!

I'd love to see that!!

Can't wait to see it Nate!

Thanks for answering the phone on easter sunday Mike! We prepped for something like 14 hours sunday, and 16 Monday! 11 Cameras total I think. 8 Sunday/Monday, 9th showed up Tuesday morning, 10th/11th showed up at the venue. Crazy stuff, but everything came together pretty well.

Very cool Nate...

I'm curious about a few things:

Were the 11 REDs all used simultaneously during the actual concert timeframe, or is that the total count of REDs used over a three day span?

Were the cameras hardwired into to an iMag screen at the venue?

Was the production hardline switched, or non-hardlined?

All 11 were rolling at showtime. 10 were on lockit boxes.

No. No imag at this show. Even if there was, that would have been somebody else's deal.

It's a post edit, which I'm doing right now. Hard lines on 7 cameras, wireless via camwave on 2. 9 cams total monitored live. 2 were floaters that I let loose.

I hope you guys did a bit of BTS of the filming aside from the band's back-stage stuff. They did that for their biggest concert ever in England for the AI tour and it really added to the whole concert experience... fantastic DVD and a tough act to follow by any measure. Congrats on the gig BTW!

Personally, I would have enjoyed a bit more of the pit camera, there were some shots that were very dynamic and I would have loved to see a few more of those. I really enjoyed it! I would have been so exited I probably would have ran on stage and asked him for an autograph, then gotten fired. :)

I checked the aspect and it seems to be a little over 2:1 like ~2.15:1, is there any specific reason behind it or are your lips 100% completely sealed for now?

Thanks for sharing the video!

How can I see the HD version? I tried following the link but I can't find it on the page it took me to.

We shot 2:1, I side cropped to 16x9 for delivery. I wanted to have a 2:1 for my own amusement, but nobody besides myself has seen that.

What you see on that Comcast page is my 16x9 mangled by someone encoding for web. It's squished vertically

Gotta have Comcast HD. That link I think is supposed to take you to a pitch to get HD cable, but they've screwed that up as well.

OMG!! This is so frustrating... squished... and trying to sell me something?!?! You are fired.. get me my Green Day!! :)

I anxiously wait for more.

Wow, comcast's web content people are idiots. Oh well. On to the next job Nate!
