I am selling my entire RED Package, #2915, along with all of its RED accessories, top-of-the-line ARRI and O’Connor accessories, as well as the custom cases, all as a complete package, for $45,000. E-mail me: ryan (at) patchfamily (dot) com, or PM if you're interested.
I am selling because I have simply realized that I don’t want to be working as a “rental house” - I’ve realized that I want to write and direct, and because that means that I will have 3-12 month gaps between projects, it doesn’t make financial sense to own a RED. The camera is perfect for owner-operator DPs looking for work and a reel, or perfect for a small production company that did even 1-2 projects on the RED every month – it would pay for itself in a year, not to mention eliminate the headache of dealing with rental houses. Neither of those descriptions fit me though, which is why I’m asking you if you would like to purchase the camera package from me.
I am selling it as a package because I have painstakingly assembled a scalable package that’s perfect for large productions, can be adapted to smaller documentary situations, and is also ready for whatever additional accessories you want to buy or rent. I spent 3 months prior to delivery researching the perfect accessories for the camera, scouring the internet message boards, and having long conversations with reps at Abel and Filmtools, eventually settling on name-brand, highest quality, renown accessories and support from Arri, O’Connor, and Element Technica. Additionally, ensured that I got the best deals on every piece of equipment I bought, and exercised tax breaks as much as I could. This was a process that took immense amounts of time, but resulted in saving thousands on the purchase price. Additionally, through the nine months I’ve owned the camera, through my own work as well as discussions with multiple DP’s, I’ve fine-tuned the package with big and small add-ons that make the package complete and easy to use in a way that it isn’t right out of the box.
By purchasing the RED rig, you are also future-proofing your investment by “buying” my place in line for all future RED products, as well as the upgrade path to the new “Epic” and “Scarlet” systems, receiving a $17,500 trade-in credit towards an Epic camera (including the Epic-X camera only available to RED ONE owners) or 12% credit towards a Scarlet system.
