I'm getting ready to purchase a Red One setup tomorrow but can't decide on Red Flash or the Red Drive. Thought maybe you guys could help me decide..

Get both if you can- Red drive is great for the space- but can be a little heavy for some setups and it is always good to have a solid state drive on hand.

Sounds like a good plan. How much footage at 4k on 8gb and how much at 16gb?

Not too much on a 8gb card- I think 12 min. 4k. I could be wrong. Ed Watkins made a cool iphone app called iSee4k. It helps with lots of things including storage calculations.

Awesome. I've also been told that I can save tons of cash by using a Lexar CF reader. Go or no go on that? I believe I can get the reader around 50 bucks.

Yep. I found it. Do you know if they read both the 8 and the 16? Thanks for all your help.

As the RED manual says:
" 8GB card will typically provide 4 minutes of 24fps 4K RAW, 7 minutes of 24fps 3K RAW, or 16 minutes of 24fps 2K RAW recording. A 16GB card will provide twice this capacity. "
"RED DRIVE will typically provide 160 minutes of 24fps 4K RAW, 280 minutes of 24fps 3K RAW, or 640 minutes of 24fps 2K RAW recording."
"RED RAM will typically provide 64 minutes of 24fps 4K RAW, 112 minutes of 24fps 3K RAW, or 256 minutes of 24fps 2K RAW recording."
