RE: Hot Swap Device

Just FYI...
Lentequip (which makes very nice cine block batteries, as well as amazing mattebox step down rings and conversion kits) has a new hot-swap product that I noticed the other day.

Not sure if they had it at NAB (actually since I was not there, I don't even know if Lentequip was at NAB) I've always been happy with the machined accessories that I've bought from them.
Worth a look for those who like to use block batteries...
Cheers,
Harry

Interesting, but we have a similar device from House of Power that does not need any "push to switch" control on it and it is thoroughly circuit protected from backfeeding power, causing electric arcs, etc. It's also fairly inexpensive. Here's our webpage on the unit:

Nice one, Mitch!
Have you guys tried it on a Red?
Cheers,
Harry

Forget everything you know, here is the best hot swap accessory for the Red One. No cables, adapters, din, bnc, whatever or other types of batteries than the Red ones. Works on ALL Red battery mounts AND allows you to stay in touch with battery infos onscreen...

Watch this, at total Mitch selling video!!!

The product can be found here:

I'm so into this one, it's one of the most simple and best accessory I've seen so far...

Thanks! Very popular item.

Wasn't aware of that one. Looks great and simple to use.

Cheers,

Paul

The Lentequip device purports to test both voltage and amperage before it will allow a transfer. Anybody know if either of these other products do this?
I'm just thinking that if you swapped to a sub-par battery the camera would crash... yes?
Cheers,
Harry

I don't know of a modern battery out there that doesn't have a meter on it of some type. Just like plugging into any other camera in the world, I would suggest one check to make sure the battery actually had a charge in it before connecting to the camera.

Victory, House Of Power, Tritron. None have a display. But load-testing the battery before allowing a swap (different from a dead batt) seems like a nice touch.
Not endorsing the Lentequip thingie, just curious about other peoples' experiences.
Of course I would never accidentally plug in a dead battery myself... but some people might! ;)
Cheers,
Harry

Have not looked at a modern Victory or Tritron battery in some time, but I can tell you that all of the House of Power batteries most certainly have displays.
