  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Soderbergh discusses the Red and his new "Girlfriend Experience."

If I understood him correctly, he was talking about not forcing written dialogue on untrained amateurs, letting them instead speak in their own voices and cadences.

What's so galling about all this -- forgive me -- is that the stuff Soderbergh is doing has been done by no-budget filmmakers for years, for lack of any choice in the matter. And yet he's celebrated for these "innovations", here and elsewhere.

It's like the rich discovering rice and beans or ripped jeans.

LOL. Well, a lot directors do this. I think you are getting bent out of shape about SS getting "credit" for it too easily. He's just saying that he likes to work that way -- many directors do.

On really big-budget films, I suppose it's incredibly difficult to work this way, since everything has to be planned out and scheduled out and even story-boarded out, when tens of millions or even hundreds of millions of budget dollars are on the line.

I'm sure part of the reason SS signed his multi-pic deal with HDNet is so he would have the freedom to shoot in this more relaxed and intimate type of environment.
