  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

C-MOCOS video?

I saw the animations on the website...but this....this is awesome.

Did anyone get a ball park price for this thing?

Strange way to promote a moco-system. Instead of showing it`s capabilities they put two badly rendered animations of the system itself into the gallery.

BTW, I believe this thing is meant to be rental-only, I don`t think they`re gonna sell it.

yeah, those "demos" on the site don't demonstrate much.

First of all folks, I'm pretty sure that those demos are intended as product renders only and likely pre-existed the prototype. Just like renders of SCARLET don't actually demo anything. I think that is the appropriate comparison.

And I think the price is 100,000 euros. But I'm sure that is all subject to change. This product is more than a year away from market. We were just treated to a glimpse at the first prototype. I imagine that a year from now this beast will evolve quite a bit. Maybe grow a set of thumbs, even....

jajajjaja

Will send to several of operators to decrease their morale Jajajajja.

seriously, awsome integration. we use sometimes motion traking from scorpio heads, this looks much more acurate.

I knew this arm from DLR for years (http://www.robotic.dlr.de/206 or http://www.dlr.de/rm/en/Portaldata/52/Resources/images/aktuelles/automatica2008/dummy_robot.jpg) and despite having a couple of additional joints it`s (physically) not much different from regular industrial robotic arms - so nothing any of us has never seen before, that`s what I meant with the renders.
I know it`s the software and ease of setup that makes the difference but actually it`s exactely what`s missing on the site.
My primary criticism is a general one on vendors who make announcements and presentations and don`t have any or very little additional info or references on their sites. Things like this spoil their reputation so it`s in their own interest to better wait a bit longer before posting anything.

That's the same logic that kept people away from RED cameras. It's the new model, better get used to it.

We've already seen, since RED started it, that some companies are better than others at delivering on promised deadlines.

You pays your money. You takes your chances. But the model of sneak peeks and discounts based on belief is not likely to disappear.

As far as price, I asked directly. They are targeting 180,000 Euro. But they said this could easily change. Their hope is for the price to come down, but they won't know until they finish development, market, and start to bring in orders.

It's hard to justify signing up when it's still going to be out of my budget after their 30% discount. It looks like a really cool system, though.

@Kyle -- 180K euros sounds way out of line. That's nearly $240K USD. As cool as the system is, I don't see it selling all that well unless they can cut that price in half. And chances are, they would probably sell 10X as many units if they were priced at $30K compared to unit sales at $100K. I hope they gave you bad info! I've seen a couple others report 100K Euros as their target, which puts the system at about $130K USD.

I thing the 30% discount applies to rental. The industrial robot this thing is based on comes from KUKA, and is at least $100K

No it´s not from Kuka, it`s from DLR (but they changed the colour from blue to this orange) as I quoted the link (check it out), I believe that quite any Kuka robots, regardless of their size will be way to heavy for portable use (the smallest with a payload of 5 Kg weighs 28 Kg itself - only the robotic arm, controller not included)

Still pretty sure it's KUKA, Even one of the photos you linked to it had the KUKA logo on it.

Just useless going into this, but ok...

Quote from Mocos : "MOCOS is a completely new motion control system based on german technology, development supported by DLR (German Aerospace Center) that empowers camera motion control to a new stage."

Quote from Kuka : "To realize visions, these ideas must also be implemented with skilled partners. For this reason, KUKA Roboter is particularly proud of its longstanding partnership with the DLR (German Aerospace Center), which has now produced the KUKA lightweight robot."

And finally I`ve seen the predecessors and prototypes of this machine years ago in numerous documentaries about the DLR and their robotic lab division in german tv.
