Hi!
I'm trying to export my timeline from color to after effects via dpx...but AE always tells me that the the chosen file cannot be read as FIDO or SMPTE Cineon...why?
And i noticed that AE only ingest .cin....why?
I know this would be a stupid question...but can someone halp me out?
Thanks

For DPX, the endian setting is "little" on Color DPX export, then AE requires "big", I think that is why.

That would be because Color won't provide more than basic wipes and effects.

I needed to use dpx because i have to slow down some sequences...
Every time i try to use r3d files with after effects the sistem crash...

You may need to re-install. AE works very well for us with native R3D, other than Premiere which is still quite unstable.

AE has turned into my Scratch Bay, Online and Conform, Color and VFX. Then we take to Color for the Look, but we take dpx, 10bit 444 qt, or tif

The Color DPX are also having import issues in Autodesk Flame.
This topic come to surface yesterday...Is better to send first some DPX from FCP to a composition software to work, then send back DPX to Color for grading...or is better to sent the graded DPX from Color to the compo software and make then send final DPX to the sequence... what do u guys think?

Better to grade (r3d) before retime (DPX)? Or retime (r3d) before grade (DPX)?
I would do a test with the shot and see... I think retiming is same from r3d or DPX, but color grading not. Because of RAW color information.

That's why i've just graded my shot (r3d), and now i have to do compositing...
I think i'm gonna export dpx, wrap them with ajadpxtoqcktime, and do the retiming in AE...am i all right?

I would just inport DPX in AE... but you know why doing QT for your finishing.

It depends from where are u exporting the DPX. I think is better to compositing first but then come the matter of the REDCODE and the color information for grading, but is messy when compositing with an already graded material, lets HOPE than the workflow tool help to solve this question and keep the workflow more logical.

What are you doing to spit your stuff out of After Effects to go into Color? I'm currently trying to find a way to output RED VFX stuff in some sort of DPX that maintains all the color information. I know Apple Color supports the import of 10 bit Log DPX's. Is that what you're doing? If so, do you mind telling me a bit about your workflow?
