rumours at NAB saying, that Vitec will close OConner USA within the next few weeks. They are planning to continue the OCoonor stuff with Vinten technology. I do not know anymore - but got these details from very serious people.

Vitec already owns O'Connor, Vinton and Satchler. O'Connor is a good brand with lots of great products, including the 2575 probably the standard for larger cameras.

They have been moving production around. My O'Connor 120 was made in England! (Unfortunately it has both imperial and metric fasteners.)

Well, I'm supposed to receive my 2575D in an hour or so… C'mon Fedex :)
The D version is very recent and seems to indicate that they plan to keep O'Connor alive.

I visited the O'conner booth at NAB today to check out the new 2575D and the 120... I learned some interesting things...

The new "D" model is now made in Costa Rica.. Where the "C" was Made in Costa Mesa!! I did notice that the "D" has a slight blue tint to the anodizing on the mitchell base, where my "C" has no color tint in the anodizing...

I was very curious as to how the 120 can support such a heavy payload... It turns out the 120 takes much of it's counterbalance technology from the Vinten Vector series packaged in the form factor that we "cine" users are used to!

Ive noticed with mine and some others, that the new Ocon mitchell sticks are great but the finish on the casting and in some cases the casting itself has left some worries.

I had a back pressure plate on the leps snap in half last year in the middle of a shoot.
When i took it to oconner they replaced immediatly with no questions but you could see some errors in their casting which is done in Costa Rica.
