  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Autodesk Flare - a software only Flame?

I was excited for about 30 seconds. Its still a great addition for Flame shops but the off the shelf hardware *required* for Flame is unfortunately significantly overpriced which steers me away from it on principal. Still, there is nothing else like Flame on the market so we've been considering it.

For a Flame shop, this is very exciting. Being able to add several lower cost workstations to handle the roto work will help out tremendously on a tight deadline.

40.000 $ (and just to remind you, only in conjuction with a flame, that means another 350.000$+) - bon apetit...but what else can we expect from Autodesk...btw, flame 2010 supports R3D files

Low cost in Flame world is high cost everywhere else. ;)
I think I read USD 40K somewhere?

EDIT: Danish P.V. beat me to it...

They advertised Combustion for years as a setup station for IFF (Inferno Flame Flint) - you can transfer Gmask setups from Combustion to IFF and I don`t see that a 40.000 $ station (plus workstation) will be used for roto only.

of course it wont be used for roto only, that was just an example. Combustion hasnt worked in years to transfer gmasks due to a bug that was never fixed.
