Product ships in JUNE. I should have a pre-release unit for testing. AJA sees it as a platform - and it will have many firmware updates. It is WIFI - and you will be able to TAG more meta-data via web/iPhone while shooting - 100% possible to TAG slate/etc. on an iPhone app and send that data to the Ki Pro. And it does support "p" - not just Psf -

Now ... when RED gets the EDGE CODE also embedded in the HDSDI - I'll kick and scream until AJA puts that in as a trigger to start and stop record on the device. (same is planned for QTAKE HD software) - this way - it rolls when the RED rolls - stops when the RED stops shooting.

Seems like cool stuff. I was kinda hoping that they had a slip up or something and would have mentioned a new version of Final Cut. I hope the lack of the normal Apple Sunday pre-NAB announcment doesn't mean we won't see FCS3 sometime this week. Maybe with ProRes 444 with a ensuing 444 update to the Ki Pro? I can dream, right?

it may but more likely will not be a great box for big features....depending on the playback 'controlability' of the unit.

i have a feeling the qtake is more up that alley.....

Very cool, though I'm a bit surprised they're a year late on this. When I saw the I/O, I absolutely thought it had a harddrive on it. They seemed to have skipped the basic version like this and moved right to the advanced version. Great stuff about the ability to send it data...

Not sure if we'd get one of these or not. We've moved most of our long form stuff over to Sony's EX's...with RED being our filmic stuff.
