I'm missing NAB, working up in Vancouver on a toy shoot. Here's the Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 getting prepped on a Skater Scope @ Clairmont.

Everyone who's seen the lens has been impressed with how wide it is, how low distortion and the overall quality of the image which is great.

The one pictured is not quite finished, the zoom gear needs to be anodized and it's missing engravings and a new 80mm front.

Who's your AC for it?

Table top AC work is always a fun game. Be kind.

Julie Kim ! Red Tech / Red Vendor Brian Broz.

That is such a cool picture!

I'm hugely envious of your pro'd-out 11-16... wish I had the funds to do the same with mine, as it's such a fragile lens. (I was happy to discover that the repair of mine when I broke the iris lever and scratched the rear optical element was only $75... but still, I know it'll get bumped again.)

WANT! Are you actually using it on the scope?

Matt, it was great to meet you at Clairmont. And thanks for showing me the lens...I feel fortunate to have seen it. I know Red owners will be really happy with this conversion.
From what I saw it really exceeded my expectations.
Looking forward to the shoot!

The 11-16 is fantastic. Has really expanded the range on the Red for me.

Matt, are you taking lenses people already own and converting or will we only be able to buy the ones you guys have converted?

You should take that up with Duclos. It might be possible... I think it would be simpler to have them buy it .

I shot a bunch of figurines tabletop with the 11-16 today - very impressive. @16mm T2.8 it's visually hard to tell apart from the 16mm Ultraprime. It's really been a rockstar on the scope too - small, sharp and wide as hell. So low in distortion you don't really read just how wide it really is !

Sadly, I can't post production images - some of the products are yet to ship.

I'll sneak something with it tomorrow, it's a nice looking set.

This is an open topic at the moment. We have decided to go with the Canon mount version as I have noted in previous posts. Which is designed differently from the Nikon mount version. This makes it very difficult to offer a conversion for both models. Although, I have noticed that almost all the pre-owned Tokinas are Nikon mount. As I said, this is still up in the air. We will be sending out a little newsletter with all the details once we settle back in from Vegas. The link for the newsletter is in my signature here on REDuser.
I'll have the lens with me at the REDuser Party for anyone who want's to check it out. Maybe even throw it up on a RED.

Skater Scope - It works great. It's quite a trip to put the Tokina lens on it @11mm and set up a macro shot.

Unbelievably there are no Skater scopes in the UK...

Matt: what is your opinion on the 'scope' optically?

I'm desperate to try one before renting in from Germany. Sometimes it is just safer to go with a known system.

regards

Michael

I really like it - just depends what you need. Everything works as it should and it seems to have really good resolution. The 5.6 is a little conservative - you can squeeze a little more out of it sometimes. I have not used every snorkel lens out there ( but have used the fraiser a few times ) and would choose the skater scope over that.
