  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Don't click on that link because you will faint.

You do realise this price includes a Mac Pro system? Given the functionality, and the probable use of this software/hardware in feature projects, I don't suppose the price will be any shock to anyone thinking about the purchase.

Interesting product - hope we'll have the chance to see it at IBC.

it is a bit expensive. if, from what i gather, a user paid the one-time fee for the software, and then $500 for putting it on additioinal machines, that may work out okay.....

but it is a little expensive for sure. also, the 2-camera system is where the value would really come in, as it is tough to justify not simply using final cut pro as your record software on a one-camera shoot.

but i am very much looking forward to test driving this system.......and will most likely buy it if i like it....

There is no comparison to fc, this is a real video assist app. FC is far to cumbersome to use in a real world situation as a vide assist system...this app is very easy to use. I tested it on a shoot a few months ago and gave it to one of my staff just a few hours before the shoot. She had zero experience as a video assist tech (she is an animator)....and she worked the system like a pro. It is extremely intuitive.

No question the two camera version is going to be its strength.

I am a video assist and have been doing HD playback from a laptop and the aja IOHD since it came out. This system is great but hauling around a tower sucks. I used to haul a tower with a kona 3 till the iohd came out and my back feels much better now! It would be great for some locations but its hard to beat the iohd and a laptop in a backpack. Will this run on an IOHD? if so then great!!!! I'm in!!! check out this site I made to exchange red camera looks. I'm still working on it......

The software runs with an ioHD, Kona 3 and blackmagic cards - currently, the dual camera system runs with two backmagic cards but dual kona 3 support is in the works.

I was more than confident there would be folks posting negatively about the price - but this is an application targeted to the high-end video assist professional - and if you check prices of other solutions this system is a bargin.

Bottom line - if you can use FCP as an on-set video assist - for playback, annotations, realtime keying, etc. - then you don't need this. But for the record, we have been testing with some major guys who do video assist for a living on high-end commercials and vfx features - and they are blown away. Yes it is expense as software goes. But you get what you pay for.

You can see it in action, and drive it yourself at the Reduser event at NAB - and around that time there will be a demo download available.
