  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Meet Mr.T... in full 5k.

i cant wait to buy my scarlet! do you have any video available?

Curiosity is never Heathy... remember, it killed the cat :)

Awesome feller there Jarred, I have a little red ear slider named Pebble who was my 1st subject when I received the uhmm, the 4k camera? The RED ONE...thats it. Nice clean images, loving it man...keep em coming sir. :)

Fantastic screen! Like I needed any more reasons to be salivating over Red glass...

jarred-

What kind of DR are you guys getting right now with the new Chip? Im so fricken stoked to shoot with the new sensors....

Assuming 5K 16:9, that would be 5120x2880 or 14.7 MP.

The RED One only has a 11.4 MP active area, but currently max recording size is 4096x2304 which is about 9.4 MP. It seems Justin is a bit faster and he's right on the dimensions of the Mr. T image, but it is matted on black.

Wow, the thing that hits you straight away looking at the full 5K image zoomed in, is how crazy-shallow the DOF is...only half a tortoise eyeball in focus while the other eyeball is well out of focus!! Any idea what stop this was shot at?

BTW are you guys building Noah's Ark down there...I can't wait to see what creature will feature next

Very Nice, clean and superb image.
Keep doing this job guys.
Speechless!!

Nice images... but it would be more informative to see the same image shot on the original RED ONE Mysterium sensor as well, side-by-side as a point of comparison, and preferably something without such shallow focus, like a medium or wide shot of something with a lot of detail.

I tend to find close-focus photography even with ordinary hi-def cameras to be quite detailed-looking... so I have no clue here whether what I'm seeing is truly an improvement over the previous generation of Mysterium, or over anything else for that matter. But it certainly looks nice and I guess it proves that it works!

Which Epic Brain was used?

Which Epic Brain was used?

Jarred...Nice shot!
But I am curious... assumng that the whole "brain" thing is still part of the present red equation, which "model" would be considered closest to the prototype you shot this with?
Epic?
Epic-X?
FF35?

Noted David.... The motivation behind this shot was to just give you a peak behind the curtains ( like we usually do), it is by no means meant to be used for analysis sake.... as I mentioned in the first post, this image does not have any pixel correction or any other in camera (or out ) processing so a comparison would be pretty moot.

Internally, there is great value to us testing close focus distances at open apertures and seeing the results... for both our lens program and sensor program. I just thought this was pretty and decided to share.

If images like this really have little to no value to you guys I will weigh your well respected advice and consider refraining from posting these sort of things.

Thx.

They are fun, and there's always value in that. They show that the thing works and delivers, which is of course, darn important. Beyond that and I am hesitant to read any more into them. Obviously you should keep posting them judging by the excitement they cause -- I can only speak for myself in regards to their informative value.

I guess what I'm concerned about are people trying to analyze this in terms of being "5K", etc. There simply isn't enough information here to go on in terms of whether this is visibly better than RED ONE's 4K.
