Red D-Tap Battery jumper

I herd a rummer that there was a product out there that uses a small battery and a D-Tap connector to allow you to swap your RED bricks while the camera stays running. I was told that you just plug it into the RED D-Tap connector and it supplies the camera juice while you do the switch. Does anyone know who makes this and how I can get one? If this doesn't exist yet and the rummer is false, I want the first one when someone makes it.

Just get a dtap > dtap cable and a second battery plate. Both of which should be things people keep in their kit.

Mitch, just searched the Abelcine site and couldn't find it.

I think that's one of the things that makes Abelcine not jump in my mind is the incomplete and poor website. But your customer service rocks. I called in a bigger order last Friday and several people in the LA office helped me and made it a good experience, so I'll definitely be back. i just wish your products were all online and available so I can quick do a 5min order when I know what I want and don't have to call in.

Shawn, we appreciate the comment and we're always working on the website. But please understand that we sell about 14,000 discreet items and simply cannot list everything on our site. But we are trying! Also please note that some items are special order, especially cables. So when someone asks if we have a cable that can attach widget X to camera Y the answer is yes but that's because our Service guys can make everything and there's no way we can begin to list all of those items. For instance, Abel has made dozens of HRS12 to Lemo4 cables to power B4-mount lenses off the RED when using the B4 lens adapter. But it is not something we list as a product because it is not something we particularly will ever stock in Sales inventory. It is something that our Service Department will make for clients, usually people who contact me directly.

Can you go into the details of how yours works? How much and how do we buy?
I use the double mount from switronix but the plastic material is a little weak and the unit is bulky.

It is a D-Tap male to D-Tap male cable. You will need a second battery plate of some kind, which many people have in their kit. Let's say you have a cradle mounted to your camera. When the battery gets low, walk over with another battery mounted on another plate, say a Quickplate or a beltclip. Plug our cable into the D-Tap on the Quickplate and then onto the D-Tap on the cradle. Now the second battery is feeding the camera. Swap out the dying battery on the cradle for a fresh one and then remove our cable from the cradle's D-Tap and you have now swapped batteries without ever turning off the camera. Perhaps not the most elegant solution but it does work. We made a bunch for OffHollywood.

Hi, There is also Hot Swap Cable and V-Lock Swap plate which I picked up at dvshop.ca. Works for me
