  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Miniature explosions at 120fps

Yes very fun shooting : )
For the final comp, I'll do some fluid dynamic smoke in maya to get the large scale effect.

Nice. 120fps goes a long way. I can't wait to see 225fps in 3k or 350fps in 2k in all it's Red Code 225 or 250 glory.

Bayden, don't you mean "cause honestly I just like blowing shit up"? :)

Please post the final Jansson.

awesome.
I love blowing shit up, too.
Did a music video with 5' weather balloons filled with propane and model rocket ignitors attached- that was pretty damn fun.

Looking forward to seeing your final composition.

Anybody know where to get black smoke btw?

Nice work! :)

Fire + Explosions + Red One @ 120 fps = LOTS - O - FUN!

Distance from action to lens?

Explosion accomplished how?

:) too close.
About 5-7 meters. When I step frame, by frame on the first explosion I can see that the gas ignite about 1m out, and that made it a sort-of-airburst and much bigger then I expected. Almost took my eyebrows :)

I just used 2 beer cans with gas. In the cans I have some aluminum foil to slow down the liquid, and some toilet-paper wrapped around soaked in gas. Then it all is lit like a big fire. To make the explosion I find it best and safest to use a small electric firework. You don't need much, just a very little.

Do I need to write a disclaimer? Try this at YOUR OWN RISK!! Know what you do, and don't break any LAW!! :)
