I am ordering a RED and I try to figure out the best solutions.
I will go lightweight with Underdahls lightweight support with my Bartech, M-One motor, Arri lightweight follow Focus and Chrosziel matte Box.
I will start using only CF-cards and RED quickplate for the battery. I own two SWIT S-8160S, 190Wh batteries so I order only one RED Power Pack. I will buy the ET:s Video Break Out Box later and I will also wait with the EFV.
I will create a cable between the "Max 70 W" power on RED quick plate and The Bartech.

This is what I have decided:
From RED:
Red One Camera
18-50 T3
Red Pro 5.6” LCD
Red CF Module
Red Power Pack
Focus Hook set
Red Quick Plate
Top Handle
BNC to DIN cable
AC Power adaptor
Bolt Set

From Element Technica:
A pair of 18" 15mm aluminium rods
Topside Combo
RED Monitor Mount w/ Female V-Lock
Rain Cover
Short Handle Riser (2 - if I need tho handles on the camera)

I will also buy:
Hoodman LCD shade for 5,6" LCD
and a Remote Record Start and Stop by Viewfactor.

I´m looking for a Zeiss 85mm 2.1 PL.

I will also buy the Tokina 11-16 when it´s available.

I have a few very important questions. I really hope you can halp me out.

1. I have heard rumors of that using a single RED handle may be too weak for the camera - too big force on the attachment. Du you have any experiences of this?

2. Can I attach the RED quick plate at the rear of the Topside Combo?

3. If I need both handles - can I put both of the Red handles on EM:s Topside Combo? Then I suppose both ends of the plate are occupied? Because of that EM only have 15mm rods I suppose I can put a universal mount for RED quick plate behind the Topside Combo and put adapters to 19mm in the holes?

3. Are there any cheaper and reliable 16GB CF-cards. I have read a pair of threads but I´m still confused.

4. Have anyone used Hasselblads 80mm 2.8 on a RED? The older model - but black and T*?

Thanks at beforehand.
/Ronnie

Works fine here with just one handle. Have the battery mounted on top, thus there is no space for the second handle. Feels good and solid, and I wouldn´t worry as long as you have relatively light-weight setups.

There are, but those work only in 2k. There have been some reports on successfully using the Lexar 300x 16gb CF cards in 4k, but other people only got 2k out of the same cards. Bottom line for now: CF cards are not the place to save money (unless you are fine with 8gig cards, where the $100 Lexar 300x work just fine).

Enjoy your RED, you will not be disappointed.

Buy the 7" monitor. A world of difference in every respect, especially brightness and focus. I rarely use my EVF when I have that on. Worth the exrta cash. 5.6" can be a bit of a strain for critical focus.

ET breakout box is worth getting up front. The mini sdi's on RED are dicey and can be damaged. May want to read up about RED's 18-50 as well. Not the nicest reviews. RED's monitor mount works quite well without any extra doo dads. May want to try it out before getting more stuff.

We use a Zacuto quick release system on ours.

Thanks for your response. Maybe I shall order a 7" instead.
