  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anyone know where I can find a "1394b FireWire Isolator cable?

I originally posted this in accessories, but got no response, so am hoping this gets seen by those in the know here...
I REALLY don't want to fry the fire wire port on my Red-Drive, and want to pick up one of these asasp, but the original vendor (firewire depot) apparently has gone out of business...
Any advice?

Thanks in advance,

I just checked and Abel has a bunch of them in stock.

for my info ...
i see i have cables with & without isolators ..
they all work ...i can't tell/see any difference ...
so what's the scope on the isolator thing ?

The isolator cuts out the power electrical feed across Firewire. If a device does not need to accept this power than there can be the danger of sending too much power in and causing components in the unit to burn out.
