Hey all,

I have a shoot this weekend using both a RED One, using a 35mm lens and a Sony EX1.

We are looking to cut and finish on Final Cut Pro. My questions are around intercutting the different footage in post and a workflow that might be usable.

Our thoughts were to use Pro Res HQ from RED via Clipfinder that will transcode both to 720p (our finishing format).

Does anyone have any much needed advice on a best practice here for this type of thing?

Would appreciate any and all advice,

thanks,

Ross and Chris

Hi guys,

You can simply use RedRushes for the transcode (rather than Clipfinder). Ensure you get a "look" in RedAlert prior to the trasnscode, so that you get a color look that is close to what you want the final material to look like--helps for grading to be in the ballpark with your ProRes. Also, depending on your deliverable, you could go even smaller than 720. If you can shoot same frame rate on RED and Ex1, FCP will run a bit smoother.

There are LOTS of threads on recommended/different workflows. What you're suggesting is commonly used and gets good results.
