  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Card reader

I haven't used this product but my problem with another expresscard (esata) is that it comes out of the slot really easily, just by applying a gentle force is loses contact.

The way to go still seems to be the Lexar FW800 reader. After a year of use it still works without any problems, even with the 16GB RED cards that other readers struggle with.

The Sonnet card copies a full 8Gb CF card in around 4 mins.....

Sonnet looks fine, I´ve got the Delkin and sometimes affects MACOSX.

The problem with all expresscard adapter is the quality of socket, too delicate!

apparently - there's different express card slots too. the one from sonnet supposed to be superior. here's the "add" from the sonnet website:

Unlike common CF adapters, Pro Dual CompactFlash Adapter ExpressCard/34 uses the 2.5 Gbps PCI Express interface incorporated into ExpressCard® slots, so it delivers performance superior to adapters that depend on the ExpressCard slot’s slower USB 2.0 interface.

fyi.

p.s.: i got the lexar too - but went the express card route because the fw400 and 800 on the mac book pro use the same bus.
